Private lessons are generally forty-five minutes per week in length. The level of musicianship, age of the student and recommendation of the teacher determine the length of lesson if 45 minutes is not appropriate. I prefer not to offer lessons on an every other week basis.
Monthly tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. It is calculated by the number of weeks that the lesson day falls on by the dollar amount you pay for each lesson. If you have forgotten to bring payment with you, please remit immediately. If more than two weeks pass without payment, the student’s lessons will be suspended. Cash is fine, and I am most happy to provide you with a receipt. New England Federal Credit Union is my financial institution, if you choose to make direct payment.
COVID-19 NOTE: I can accept Paypal, POPMoney and Venmo. From an accounting standpoint, I'd still prefer you pay for the month ahead instead of weekly.
I will credit, refund, or reschedule only if:
The City of Burlington public schools are closed for snow or some other official emergency.
I need to cancel. I will make every effort to notify you as early as possible, as I expect the same from you.
Due to a serious illness, the student (or I) must miss more than two weeks of lessons.
You are expected to pay for the full month of lessons, even if you (or your child) have made other plans on lesson day (i.e. dentist, orthodontist and doctor appointments, soccer games, drama rehearsals and other various functions) I will try and work with you to reschedule these lessons if possible. You are also free to contact other students to see if they can switch times with you. If that is not possible, you are still expected to pay in full for your time slot. Please know that rescheduling can be very difficult, so please take your lesson time seriously and plan accordingly.
COVID-19 NOTE: One advantage of online lessons is increased scheduling flexibility. (No traffic!) I still need a 48 hour warning, but make-ups will be much easier. At this time I will not be posting open slots on my webpage. You will need to contact me to make a change.
A student may withdraw from my studio at any time, although an early withdrawal fee equivalent to one full month (four lessons) will be charged. Please set up a time to speak with me about the situation. If you decide to drop and wish to resume lessons at a later date, you will be placed on the bottom of my waiting list. I am not able to hold a slot for you without payment.
